car hire

Hiring a car is the ideal way to explore the island of Sardinia to discover the spectacular beaches and coves, experience the diverse scenery and views or visit some of the towns, villages and historical sites.

A car enables you to have the freedom and choice to travel further afield. Just Sardinia can arrange car hire for you whether it is essential to reach your chosen accommodation, or you wish to have a car to get about for the full duration of your stay or just part of your holiday. We can provide different styles of car to suit your requirements, from a small compact car to a 7 seater minibus and specialist cars on request.

UK Driving Licence Requirements

The DVLA have abolished the paper counterpart of the UK photocard driving licence and all information relating to fines and penalty points will only be available online from the DVLA.

Our car hire supplier has confirmed that the photo card driving licence will be sufficient enough to hire a car in Sardinia and no further information will be required from the DVLA.

A number of vehicle rental companies that we are in partnership with have amended their conditions of hire such that they MAY now require drivers to present an International Driving Permit (IDP) when collecting their vehicle.

Whilst this is NOT a legal requirement, some car rental companies MAY request the presentation of an IDP amongst the required documents, and the failure to do so may result in a additional charge being levied or even refusal to allow the vehicle to be driven away. We recommend that, if you have already hired a vehicle or are planning to do so as part of your holiday experience obtain an IDP. Your can get an IDP in person from certain shops that have PayPoint. Car Hire Excess Insurance

Just Sardinia and Reduce My Excess have teamed up to offer Car Hire Excess insurance.

From as little as £2.57 per day or £46 for an annual policy, Reduce My Excess can now cover the excess on your car hire whilst abroad, or within the UK for a small additional premium.

Your car hire generally covers you for Collision Damage Waiver and Theft. In most agreements you are still liable for the first portion of the repair or replacement costs otherwise known as the excess, which can vary from £100 up to £2,000.

If the car is damaged the car rental company will charge your credit card for the excess amount and you then claim for reimbursement on your Policy.

Reduce My Excess insure the Policy holder, not the car rental vehicle. Car Hire Excess cover is ideal if you want to save money before you collect your rental vehicle.

Please note that this policy is only available to those who have been resident in the United Kingdom for a minimum of 6 months when purchasing the policy.
